Contract for Therapy

Confidentiality: Counselling and psychotherapy sessions are confidential.  In circumstances where I am concerned for your immediate safety or that of another person, I reserve the right to raise these concerns with an appropriate person, usually a GP. I will be explicit with you about what I need to say and to whom. When working with couples, confidentiality applies to the couple relationship. If sessions are undertaken with one partner, it is by agreement with the couple and I do not keep secrets or withhold information on behalf of either partner.

Ethical Responsibility: I subscribe to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Ethical Framework for my therapeutic work. The framework is available on the organisation’s website at http://www.bacp.co.uk/ethical_framework. My work is supervised in accordance with BACP accreditation regulations and my clinical supervisor is bound by a similar code of ethics and confidentiality. No identifying details of clients are disclosed in supervision. The nature of therapy is personal, emotionally involved and co-created and I commit to the work with integrity. I trust that disagreements, mistakes or confusion can be worked through as part of therapy and aim to resolve difficulties through discussion with my clients. BACP has a complaints procedure available to clients on their website. In the event of my death, physical or mental incapacity I have a therapeutic executor who will contact my current clients on my behalf.

Cancellations and Lateness: sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice are charged at the full session price.  Where it is possible to rearrange the session within that working week, no charge is made. Sessions starting late due to late arrival will end on time.

Fees: Individual sessions £60 (1 hour)  Couples sessions £70 (1 hour)

Insurance and Record Keeping: I hold professional indemnity insurance for my work and am registered with the ICO. I keep and release records in accordance with the Data Protection  Act (1998).  If legally required to release records or personal information, I will follow due legal process and inform my clients.

Safety within sessions: I reserve the right to end a session due to inappropriate behaviour or abuse. If a client arrives under the influence of drugs or alcohol the session will be terminated and charged at the full session price.
